Staff Developmen​t workshop: Leadership and management developmen​t (level 2)

Staff Development have places available for the Leadership & management development workshop (suitable for Hew Level 8 - 10, and Academic Level A-C). 

Date:  Wednesday 22 October, Thursday 23 October and Friday 24 October 2014
Time:  9:00am - 5:00pm
Venue: Hotel IBIS, 297 Springvale Road, Glen Waverley

The Leadership and Management Development Program for experienced managers aims to develop the knowledge and skills of Monash University managers with a specific focus on strategic, task and people abilities and the application of these capabilities in day-to-day work. 

The LMD2 is a stimulating program focused on current models of management and influential leadership. The program describes and analyses the challenges of the management and leadership role within the Monash University context and presents a range of principles and tools for management and leadership that participants can apply. It includes models for understanding change and transition in the tertiary academic context, the fundamental management skill set, personal approaches to leadership, team management and communication, in a matrix organisation and frameworks for developing healthier workplace cultures.
The program will include:

·  Describe, compares and discuss models of management and leadership styles, strengths and skills
·  Identify, analyse and further develop their own personal management and leadership styles, strengths and skills
·  Analyse and develop personal and professional skills in:
o    Leading teams
o    Conducting performance conversations with staff
o    Managing change and transition in the workplace
o    Shaping organisation culture
·  Apply knowledge, skills and experience in resolving critical leadership dilemmas and in the development of more effective workplace relationships.
