NHMRC Minimum Data Requirements and Budget Advice

1. Minimum Data Requirements
Minimum data for the 2015 Project Grants scheme consists of the following:
Note: The above information will be used to identify review panels and assessors. Applicants are advised that any change made to the above fields after 18 February 2015 may impact the review of the application.

For studies that require the use of animals, Peer Review Panels are provided with the ‘Monash Animal Research’ costs to act as a guide to ensure consistency between applications and panels. While NHMRC acknowledges that different institutions have different costs involved, applicants are again encouraged to provide detailed justification of budgets requested. Monash Animal Researchcosts are attached to this email for you convenience.

A reminder that the minimum data for the 2015 Project Grants Round must be entered in RGMS by 5:00pm (AEDT) on 18 February 2015 to allow the NHMRC to commence sourcing suitable assessors. Applications that fail to satisfy this requirement will not be accepted.

Applicants are also reminded to complete the recommended fields below with correct information. Using placeholder text such as “text”, “synopsis” or “xx” etc. are not acceptable as minimum data.

1.      A-PA Home: Specifically, Administering Institution, Application Title, Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander Research and Synopsis;

1.      A-RC Research Classification; and

1.      B-AIProj: Application Information: Specifically, New Investigator

MRO will check that the minimum data requirements for NHMRC Project Grants are complete. They will start this process from February 16-18 prior to the cut-off. If there is information missing in the minimum data requirements they will advise CIA directly.

To allow MRO to check completeness of the minimum data requirements, it is requested you have this information completed by Sunday 15 February 2015.

2. Budgets

2.1 Animal Costs (section 2.5 B-PB: Proposed Budget – DRC and Equipment)

MARP have updated costs for animals (effective 2015), and these prices (which are the external price recognised by NHMRC) should be used in your application.

2.2 Bioinformatics

Grant review panels are increasingly considering the feasibility of bioinformatics analysis for both time and budget on grant applications. The Monash Bioinformatics Platform is building capacity, and it is important to plan now for your impending grants.
