Nomination Requests: Global Young Scientists Summit (GYSS) 2016

Please find information below regarding a request for nominations for the Global Young Scientists Summit (GYSS) being held in Singapore, 17-22 January 2016.

The Global Young Scientists Summit@one-north (GYSS) is a gathering of young researchers (primarily PhD students and post-docs) from all over the world, to interact with internationally eminent science and technology leaders (‘speakers’) in Singapore. The Summit will discuss the latest advances in science & technology, and how research and innovation can be harnessed to address major global challenges. It is a multi-disciplinary Summit, covering topics ranging from chemistry, physics and medicine to mathematics, computer science and engineering.

Speakers invited to the GYSS are globally recognised scientific leaders, who are recipients of the Fields Medal, Millennium Technology Prize, Nobel Prize, and Turing Award.

The ARC has been invited to coordinate an Australian response for participants to attend this Summit. The ARC does not have the capacity to provide support for nominees and institutions will be responsible for all costs incurred. As such, the Faculty would cover 50% of the cost of travel, and the Provost portfolio would contribute 50% for the successful candidate.

Further details can be found at (1) GYSS SG Challenge 2016 and (2) GYSS 2016 Participant Selection

4th Global Young Scientists Summit@one-north (GYSS), 17 - 22 January 2016
20 eminent science and technology leaders, comprising Nobel Laureates, Turing Award winners, Millennium Technology Awardees, and Fields Medallists, will speak at GYSS 2016. We hope to welcome about 300 bright young scientists and researchers to attend.
Your institution is invited to identify and nominate potential participants for GYSS 2016. Once nominated, they will be admitted to apply for participation. Young scientists in the field of physics, chemistry, medicine, engineering, computer science and mathematics, or other related disciplines can be nominated. Please note that a nomination does not necessarily lead to an invitation to participate in the Summit. The GYSS Organising Committee will only select the best applicants to participate.
As part of GYSS, participants are also invited to participate in the Singapore Challenge (SG Challenge) 2016, a unique feature of the GYSS. The SG challenge hopes to enable participants to further their research within an identified national challenge. A cash prize and medallion are awarded to the best concept and solutions proposed to meet the challenge. The links to download the documents can be found here, (1) GYSS SG Challenge 2016 and (2) GYSS 2016 Participant Selection.
